Why can’t I use my EBT card directly in the outdoor market?
All of our farmers can accept EBT, but not all farmers have an EBT card reader. Due to the nature of the program, Capitol Market must facilitate the distribution of Stretch dollars, which is why you have to visit the management office to receive these benefits.
Can I use my capitol market Dollars at Johnnie’s and the Purple Onion?
No–the dollars received in the office are for SNAP-eligible purchases in the outdoor market only. You can use your EBT card directly at these retailers, but they can’t match you dollar-for-dollar, as they are ineligible to be SNAP Stretch vendors.
Do my Capitol Market Dollars expire?
Your dollars do not expire, but they can only be used while there are SNAP-eligible items for purchase in the outdoor market. If you have SNAP Stretch or EBT vouchers saved from previous seasons, you are welcome to spend them during the next season. We are not responsible for lost or stolen Capitol Market Dollars.
