Simple Outdoor Oven Pizza


Dough Ingredients:

  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 ¼ cups warm water
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (optional)
  • 1 cup cheese

Sauce Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • ½ tsp dried oregano
  • handful of fresh basil, torn

Instructions:

  1. Mix warm water, sugar and yeast. Let sit 5–10 min until foamy.
  2. In a bowl, combine flour and salt. Add yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix then knead until smooth (about 10 min). Cover and let rise 1–2 hours.
  3. Heat olive oil in a pan. Sauté garlic 1 min. Add tomatoes, salt, sugar, oregano and basil. Simmer 10–15 min, then cool.
  4. Divide dough in half. Let rest 30 min. Stretch into 10–12” rounds.
  5. Spread a thin layer of sauce. Add mozzarella and your favorite toppings.
  6. Heat outdoor oven to 700–900°F. Bake 2–3 min or until crust is golden.
