Dough Ingredients:
- 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar
- 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
- 1 ¼ cups warm water
- 1 tbsp olive oil (optional)
- 1 cup cheese
Sauce Ingredients:
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar
- ½ tsp dried oregano
- handful of fresh basil, torn
Instructions:
- Mix warm water, sugar and yeast. Let sit 5–10 min until foamy.
- In a bowl, combine flour and salt. Add yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix then knead until smooth (about 10 min). Cover and let rise 1–2 hours.
- Heat olive oil in a pan. Sauté garlic 1 min. Add tomatoes, salt, sugar, oregano and basil. Simmer 10–15 min, then cool.
- Divide dough in half. Let rest 30 min. Stretch into 10–12” rounds.
- Spread a thin layer of sauce. Add mozzarella and your favorite toppings.
- Heat outdoor oven to 700–900°F. Bake 2–3 min or until crust is golden.
